There will be an intensive training workshop at the University of Wales conference centre (Gregynog, Newtown, Powis) - 10-12 March 2007, followed by a day colloquium on Manuscript and Printed Books at Bangor University on 24 March. An optional visit to the National Library of Wales is also scheduled on 16 March. Two further video-conference seminar papers will be given by Prof. Julia Boffey (English, QMUL) and Dr Helen Phillips (English, Cardiff) to the affiliated members and other partners in the seminar series organised under the Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (Bangor, Aberystwyth, Lampeter, Swansea and Cardiff). Further details about all of these events are available from Dr Raluca Radulescu, the organiser of the training (r.radulescu@bangor.ac.uk; 01248382102).

Schedule for 2005-6

The pilot scheme consists in

  1. An intensive training workshop at the University of Wales Conference Centre at Gregynog, to take place 17-20 March 2006.
  2. Three video-conference seminars on palaeography shared across the UW booked for all colleges (7 February and 23 March). The speakers will be Professor Wendy Scase (Birmingham) and Professor Elaine Treharne (Leicester).
  3. A day research trip to the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, scheduled for 6 April 2006.

Staff from all institutions will participate in the scheme either by teaching a small group during the workshop and/or by giving a brief talk about their own manuscript research during one evening at Gregynog.

Staff and students are also warmly encouraged to attend the medieval research seminars organised through the video-conference facility across UW colleges. These are organised by Dr Peter Clarke (History, UW Bangor) and Dr Raluca Radulescu (English, UW Bangor). In addition to these series of local medieval research seminars are organised in each college. For a list of those seminars organised by the Centre for Medieval Studies at UW Bangor, look here.

Details for all the above will become available here shortly. In order to register, or for any queries, contact your local co-ordinator (check staff list) or Dr Raluca Radulescu (r.radulescu@bangor.ac.uk).
